Optional accessory: Water bath cover
The rotating flask is the dynamic heart of the evaporator. It is not a passive container; its motion is integral to the process. As the flask spins, centrifugal force spreads the liquid sample evenly across its inner surface, forming a thin, continuously renewing film. This film presents a vastly larger surface area to the heated flask wall and the vacuum compared to a static liquid volume. The increased surface area directly translates to faster evaporation rates. Additionally, this constant movement and thin-film formation promote uniform heating and prevent localized superheating, which is a common cause of bumping. The design of this flask, often pear-shaped for efficient film formation, is therefore critical for optimal performance.
